What Users Say

Trails we hiked were all exceptionally well managed: Permits were well organized and rangers were friendly and informative. And we saw almost no one else on them! But the single best thing about Volcanoes Park were absolutely the Phoenix composting toilets. We found them at Red Hill cabin at 10,035 feet, and at every campsite along the coast. Not only is composting environmentally sophisticated, the user experience was excellent! The toilet at Red Hill cabin was more insulated than the cabin – almost warm. On the coast, toilets featured half height walls, affording fresh air and views. All were immaculate, with clear instructions and tasteful bins of bulking agent. Nice thrones!
